Bleach Vs Naruto Character History - Rock Lee
V1.4
Rock Lee was introduced into the game being ridiculously good. Like the current Rock Lee, he has many ways to setup infinites, has a dash with low end lag, and his punish game is amazing. However the had other things that in this version that were overpowered. His Air J has enough range to easily beat out many moves and has so much hitstun, that it can combo into pretty much every move that he has, even if those have slow startup. His Air U is the same as his U, meaning he can teleport both in the air and on the ground, allowing him to punish at any position. Air I also is the same as I. His SI not only teleports to his opponent, but it is unblockable, so it is impossible to avoid. WJ is amazing as it has low end lag, beats out so many moves, and is great for filling meter. His WU is a really good for an unblockable as its startup is fast for an unblockable and covers a decent amount of distance. However he lacked a Super Dash Cancel which the rest of the cast had, however that wasn't a problem for his as his SI is amazing without it and he doesn't need his I anyways. With all of these moves being amazing, Rock Lee ended up being one of the best characters in v1.4.
V1.5-1.68
Since Rock Lee was too powerful in v1.4, he got pretty big nerfs in v1,5. His Air J range was reduced and has less hitstun so it couldn't combo into U or I anymore. Air U was changed to a completely new move so he could not teleport in the air anymore. All of SI's hits except for the final hit became blockable which made the move from one of the best supers in the game to a mediocre move at best. While these nerfs hit Lee big, he still was a great character.
V1.7-1.9
While Rock Lee did not get any direct changes, the new mechanics has made his better. With the introduction of Ghost Step and moves no longer going through opponents, SJ is now a more viable out of block option and with Ghost Step, it is able to setup infinites, making Lee's punish game even more threatening.
V2.0-2.6
Rock Lee's SJ moves faster, covers more distance, and has has less end lag. Rock Lee also got his Air I changed.
V3.0
Rock Lee finally gained Super Dash Cancel which he did not have for a long time. His U became much slower so is wasn't a viable punish tool anymore. His SJ animation changed and does 2 hits instead of 4, but the damage is about the same. Air U was completely changed and went from a decent move to the worst move in this moveset. His SI is much harder to avoid now as it breaks guard if you hold block too long and dashing out to attempt to escape SI will not help as it follows the opponent for the duration of the entire move, making SI unavoidable.
V3.1
Rock Lee's U became good again with the startup returning to how it was in 2.6. However, WJ got a damage nerf which makes it a little less threatening. The engine changes with attacking against a wall gave him a new infinite with using J1 all over again which allowed him to use the Kon Lee strategy, where he uses the infinite and uses Kon whenever he is available to limit the opponent's meter. Rock Lee also gained his Inner Gates transformation which arguably is worse than Lee's base form in my opinion. Sure, his Air U is much better on block, has less end lag on dash, as the Air J boost tech, and even has 2 teleports, which one attacks in front and the other attacks behind, but there are 3 things that he loses than hinders his punish game. His WJ, his best move, is replaced with a much slower anti-air with more end lag: WU. Inner Gates WU is useless thanks to its mediocre at best frame data and being a combo ender, as Rock Lee doesn't need combo enders since Inner Gates Lee has a couple of infinites. His SJ becomes slower on startup making it a much worse out of block option. Finally, his SI goes from one of the best supers in the game to a worthless super that is a waste of 3 bars of meter.
V3.1.1-3.2.5
Rock Lee didn't get many changes except his Inner Gates WJ no longer cancels into KJ, making the infinite requiring a Ghost Step which makes him use up his meter.
V3.3
Rock Lee got some changes from the new Super Armor mechanic. His base form WJ now have White Armor so he can beat out moves more easily and his Inner Gate form's first hit of SJ and White Armor and his SI has Yellow armor now.
